The overall skills, possible builds, and juggling between Arcane power generators and spenders is extremely efficient for Wizards. Their Area skills are really effective in taking out mobs as well as most of them can be spammed really easily.

Diablo 3 Wizard Leveling Tip # 1 - Play ranged and defensive

The first and very important tip is to stay alive. Wizard is primarily a ranged nuker. Even though you do get close combat skills as a Wizard they should be primarily used only when absolutely necessary.

Skills like Spectral Blade for example, while they are very good and deal good damage output use this only if you get mobbed or if they enemy is weaker in terms of attack power.

Try to play Ranged and Defensive as much as possible. Most of the Wizard skills are ranged which helps you manage the ranged part. As far as playing defensive goes – you have option of two types of skills, ones that increases your defenses and other that helps you with escape. I prefer the later one as it makes your gameplay more active, fun and challenging.

It’s okay to take risks to speed up leveling since you will be getting plenty of health globes in earlier levels.

Diablo 3 Wizard Leveling Tip # 2 – Manage Arcane Power

Managing between Arcane power spenders and generators is the most important lesson you will learn as you play your wizard. You might find it overwhelming to spam high AP skills on weaker enemies but you will also find times when you will see yourself running out of Arcane Power. This makes it very important to understand when to Arcane power spenders and when to use generators.

Use heavy Arcane power spells for close calls or for taking out mobs. Combine these skills with your escape abilities to get in and out of mobs really fast at the same time dealing tons of damage. Take out as many enemies as  you can till your Arcane power is on at least 10% and then go on using generators. You always want to keep some Arcane power for emergency situations.

Diablo 3 Wizard Leveling Tip # 3 – Use Area skills effectively

A lot of people tend to waste their area skills by spamming it on lesser no. of mobs. Try to mob and gather more monsters before you cast area spells. At times you can place yourself at right spot to reduce the no. of times you might have to case area skills. This will help you conserve Arcane power and get more bonus Exp as you would kill several enemies in one blow.

Diablo 3 Wizard Leveling Tip # 4 – Stay well equipped

It’s very important to wisely choose your equips. Until you learn to master the first three tips or if you are taking a lot of damage then you might want to gear a bit more towards defensive side. Use a shield instead of Orb.

If you think you are not taking much damage and you have a good command over your character then you can go for completely damage focused gears. You might feel that you are killing a lot slower than others but you would at least survive longer. This saves you a lot of time wasted in going back and forth to town.
